if you have not yet seen your primary for 'his' eval and a referral for a good contrasted MRI to be done on your head and c spine, this is what i would do if i were feeling what you are right now? it would just show the brain(esp with the contrast being used there too) and that c spine, both of which can be possible areas where certain types of issues could create the types of symptoms you are having? when you mentioned the "top' of the head?? did you mean actually at the very top of the head or the top more towards the back of your head? it DOES matter just how far up that back of the head this may be, or actually ON the very very 'top" would be? one area would be more than likely a cranial nerve/brain symptom and the other more of a possible c spine issue that can run up the very back of the head but stops short of that 'on the top' area? do you get what i mean here or am i just confusing you? lol. sorry if i am. its just hard to explain exacting body surface area unless it is the more specific anatomical medical terms with certain areas, thats all.
when you mentioned "the burning on the left side"? was that still in the head or the left side/arm of your body(that was just a bit confusing to me, but thats just "me'.)? just how far "up' that L side of the head does that feeling actually go to, just slightly up or above or at the ear level? i am only asking since if there is some type of spinal problem at the upper part of the c spine area, it could possibly also be felt in the areas you have described having symptoms in the head by virtue of just how the sensory innervation runs according to the 'dermatomes"?? but on the other hand, the actual innervation of anything that goes down that far the arm to the hand would have to be somewhere between C 6 thru at least the end of that c spine at C 8 nerve level? from C 5 on up the c spine to C 2 just does not go all the way down that arm to the hand at all?
but either way, only because of the type and how profound your actual symptoms just are, getting the contrasted MRI really would be the best type of 'baseline' testing you could get to just even get that good "look' inside the brain and that important c spine? depending upon just what does or does not actually show up as hard findings upon the films would kind of dictate your next steps from there. there just IS a 'something" in either or both areas that would be generating these types of symptoms in you(also definitely impacting nerve somewhere). its simply a matter of seeing the inside and tracking back the symptoms to what the generator actually is?
do the symptoms in your hand actually run to any specific fingers? are you feeling any changes in overall strength in the arm or hand or any actual pain? any other actual symptoms you can think of too?
i would just make that appt with your primary so he is aware and can aslo refer you for that brain and c spine MRI, and make certain it IS with a contrasting agent added to the order, just because esp the brain, certain things can be somewhat hidden without the use of it? esp all the arteries in there that really DO also need to be seen just given some of the overall symptoms you are having here at all? you just really do not actually know what you have going on inside your own body til it either presents itself in some way or you get that really good look inside to actually even find it? trust me on THAT one. i do hope your doc simply sees the real need here and goes ahead with the MRI for you. some docs can be pretty clueless when it comes to symptoms and actually sending someone for what would just be the best way to even BEGIN to try and track back certain symptoms, an MRI. your particular symptoms just DO NEED an MRI. please keep us posted on anything you find out? and make certain to ALWAYS ask for your very own copies of any and all testing ever done on you just so YOU have one copy to read thru and keep for YOUR own medical file. they DO come in very handy for certain things along the way.
