I just started using it on Thursday on my back and chest and my husband looked at my back last night and was disappointed that there was nothing for him to pop! It is pretty drying, but not terrible. I won't use it on my face just because I think it will dry it too much and I'll break out worse.
But for my back and chest, I'm liking it!
Thanks!

I know that this may sound crazy, but I have been using Head n Shoulders shampoo for treating my acne for about 6 months now and it is working. I use it as a spot treatment, especially when I get one of those cystic type. In the shower, I use it as a body wash on my chest and back. I started with a sample size bottle and after that I bought a big bottle. Be careful, though, as it can be very drying. I usually spot treat at night with it. It's got something to do with the sulfur in it.

Hi everyone,
Most dandruff shampoos have an ingredient called salicylic acid.It is great for treating acne.St Ives makes a inexpensive facial wash containing
salicylic acid.I also use it for spot treatment.J&J also makes clean&clear liquid for acne which has sc it.In addition I take vitamin B6 and folic acid. Both are good for hair & skin.B6 is suppose to be like taking the antibotic tetracycline.

It's not the sulfur, it's the zinc. I use Head and Shoulders because I get these large, painful cysts on my head and was told to use it. It works good so I'm not surprised it would work for acne on other parts of the body.

Ironically, I buy the target brand of Head and Shoulders and it does not contain salicyclic acid. If you read through the 1000's of posts here, you will find that those cookie cutter products like clean and clear that are sold are ineffective for many people. That being the reason we find posts like these. Many people have to step back from the traditional methoRAB to tame their acne and many people find success in those odd things that work.

Another girl found her acne cure in a bottle of Herbal Essence conditioner. When I tried her method, washing with it twice a day, I found it dried my skin out. Using it as a spot treatment, rather than face wash, may be the way to go.

I'm definitely going to try Head & Shoulders though, since I have some at home anyway!

I'll try anything at this point!!

wow who would of thought of using H&S for acne but it does make sense with the zinc that it contains. When you do spot treatments do you simply apply a small amount over the affected area and let it dry and stay on over night?
Will definately have to suggest this to my son who has terrible problems with his back. Being it's not that expensive it's worth trying.

Thanks for the great tip!

You might want to check that. I have two different kinRAB of dandruff shampoo in my house and neither one has salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is used in many acne treatments and washes as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide, not in dandruff shampoo.

Just a sidenote, it may not be useful for everyone. I tried it and it didn't do anything, but it does dry out your skin. So it might not be a good idea to use it everyday, to drying.

I tried H&S on my face the other night and the next day i my skin was even more irritated looking than before.. looked like red patchy sun burn where I had used it. I used it as a spot treatment, which may have been fine if I had one annoying pimple, but since my break out was so bad, maybe it was just too much!

I will say though, that it did dry out the pimples, just at the price of blotchiness!!
