Most legacy subs who pay $10 for HD can switch to the new packages with little difference in cost. A few might get burned by the package reorganization but some, like me, can get away with fewer packages. The big losers are those that have HD grandfathered in for free. That creates an automatic $10 increase. Plus there is the $4 increase Feb 1. That's way too big an increase for one good US channel. :(

Unfortunately, I'm one of the subs that would take a big hit. I'm already paying the extra $10.00 for HD, but with the Super 6 at $39.99 plus the HD, I'm running at $51.00 per month ( my system charge of $5.99 is mostly a wash due to my $5.00 bundle discount).

To keep exactly the same SD channels that I have now, with the pricing as of Feb 1, I'd be paying $69.00 with the Digital Essentials (adding 3 themes) vs my current sub of $39.99. Once you figure in the HD add-on, I'd be at $79.00/mo.

Using the HD Essentials model, I'd be looking at $86.00/mo (well ok, $84.00 once you back out the $2.00 for the magazine) for the same that I'd get on the Digital Essential model noted above.

At a minimum, to get a workable selection based on the current offering, I'd be looking at Build Your Own with 3 themes plus one channel $57.50/mo (assuming that I could get Animal Planet a la carte) - compared to my current sub, I'd be losing 21 channels (out of those I'd really miss IFC, Biography and Mystery (YMMV) ) but even so, I'd be paying as little as $17.50/mo or as much as $33.00 more than current just so that I could get HD-Net ? I don't think so.

I assume that I won't be able to stay on this program indefinitely as at some point BELL will stop 'supporting' this price point/service. At which point, I'll have some difficult decisions to make.... ok, maybe they won't be all that difficult.

If you're not in a panic to get lost channels back and like me hate waiting on hold, try using the My Bell login and send an e-mail to them. I've used it a couple of times and they are fairly prompt in replying.
