HDMI - poorer image in Photoshop and Illustrator?

I have a brand new 22" Samsung P2270HD monitor and i bought a HDMI cable to connect the PC. Then i had the surprise to see that the image looks better in the operating system and the internet. But in Photoshop and Illustrator it is worse. I can se, for example, lots of steps in a gradient fill. I've changed the output color format from RGB to YcBcR444 (as seen in an troubleshooter forum on the net) and it is a bit better. Still.. how do i get it to be better than standard cable? I work in advertising and picture quality is needed.
I also have this new graphic card - GeForce 9600GT.
It's not about Photoshop settings as long as I can see perfect picture with standard PC-monitor cable. The poor quality is only when I plug the HDMI cable. And it's not at my work it's at home.
