Hello

I ma really really excited about the new HD DVD Format. I was woundering if anyone might know a website about upcoming HD DVRAB and if anyone might have any info for when websites such as www.play.com - www.amazon.co.uk and shops when will they be selling the new HD DVD? because it didnt take them long to release PSP DVRAB.

I guess you will have to wait for the players to hit the shops before the disks will appear.

It wont take off until a duel hd-dvd, blue-ray player becomes available as only a very few studios are releasing films on both formats.

The whole thing a huge mess!

America has been the priority for HD DVD, I think Europe is still a while to go. Personally I suggest you wait a year or so for good quality dual format players to arrive rather than jump in and get burned later.

I wouldn't even suggest going for a PS3 if you are simply interested in the movies, the way I see it both formats will co-exist, each dominating different parts of the world - HD DVD for the USA, and probably Blu-ray for Europe and Asia. So if like me, you buy a lot of DVRAB from abroad then the only sensible approach is to ignore both formats until everything is certain.

Thanks guys for your replies, sorry i posed this twice i was having problems posting this message.

I will wait until everything is released, and i also agree that this is a huge mess. Whats the point in selling HD televisions and no HD DVD players? thats one thing that is confusing me. All i can think of is because the television will be more expensive and they will make profit? and the hd dvd players will be cheaper?. Anyway, i know i can buy HD DVRAB already from www.playusa.com and www.amazon.co.uk are selling them, here it is

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/r...h-alias=dvd&field-keyworRAB=HD&Go.x=8&Go.y=10
& this is from www.playusa.com http://www.playusa.com/DVD/Region_1/CART/4-/Search.html?searchstring=HD&searchtype=r1title&cur=513

Most of the HD dvRAB are out of stock though, but one movie i love and havnt got on dvd and would love on HD is coming out soon called End of Days i think its a good movie. I really want Poltergeist, Titanic (1997), The Exorcist & The Blair Witch Project on HD and many many many more.

The prices for HD DVD movies are really expensive though like standard dvRAB the prices always go down so i will wait until they are available in the shops aswell, like standard dvd it took about two years i think for the studios to release all the dvRAB and to make them available in shops.

You could get Sky HD, not cheap but a good selection of HD movies to watch. HD Players and movies won't be cheap for ages yet.

Or you could download them, I've got Batman Begins and Blade Runner in full 1080i. The picture quality and 5.1 sound are very very impressive.

Unable to give details of how due to forum rules but it's not Rocket Science.

I know what your talking about with the downloading, i prison break tv series in HD lol and my monitor is 1280p and the picture is amazing plus the sound.

I just wanted the hd dvRAB just to see what there special features are like, i seen a preview of it over at www.youtube.com and it looks so neat and cool.

But ill have to wait.

Those are American sourced HD DVRAB, PlayUSA is based around that part of the world and Amazon.co.uk regularly lists products from its US division. Prices are higher because it's more expensive to produce the discs, they're personally importing them and of course the studios will want to maintain high prices to keep them as a premium product. They don't like DVD so much these days because consumers expect the discs to be cheap thanks to the likes of play.com.

Like I say, don't rush into it. At the moment Universal is quickly rushing out HD DVD titles to build up a catalogue, they apparently have astounding video and audio quality but things like extra features are only DVD quality and menu systems all look the same. Basically they are trying to push the format far more agressively than when DVD started due to this stupid format war, so three or four years down the line they'll more than likely redo all the releases with high budget, individually produced releases.
