HBO Canada - Technical problems

My HBO channels were "red" too. I called Bell in India and was told that HBO is having problems at the source. In the meantime he had me do a check switch. I asked him why and he said it is a good thing to do when you are missing channels. I mentioned that other subscribers had a fix done and got the channels back right away. He didn't know what I was talking about.

So after all that I still don't have HBO. He told me they would come back in a couple of hours. Hogwash??? Sounds like it.

Man I wish I wasn't so technically challenged! I might try doing the online account thingy.

Ugh mine is red, I would like to fix it before I leave tomorrow, but bell customer service is down, and I dont remember my bell account username. They make you do the secret question thing.

I figured they would just need my pin and maybe my phone number and name.

I tried the chat to talk to someone but thats not working either. I had password and username stored in one of my email accounts, but recently cleaned it out.

I noticed mine was out as well yesterday around 11:30 PM. I called the support line and, answered a few questions and eventually got to an Automatic Resync option and pushed "1" for yes. HBO was back within 2 minutes. (It does say it can take 24 hours though).

I do not remember the exact path to get to it but it was something like this:
- Tech Support
- Channels are Red in guide
- Automatic Resync

Hope that helps. You can also do a resync from the website, but someone recently said it was down.

Ah, the old "down at the source". Roughly translated that means: We broke it, and have no idea how to fix it, so we'll blame the broadcaster.

I resynchronized mine and got HBO back a couple days ago, but have been carrying on an email exchange over the past few days. It's obvious they don't read the whole email, but I got this tonight:

"I sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience and would like to inform you that the channel is down at source from our end. The problem is still there so when you get the channel back we will credit you for the number of days you missed the HBO channel. Please accept my apologies once again and do contact us when you get the channel back."

If I wait long enough to tell them, maybe I can get back the extra $60 they're planning to charge me this year?

As a side note, I have been watching a lot of free Super Channel HD already this month, and pretty much no HBO. Makes me consider switching, now that Atlantis is ending...

Had the same problem, called bell and they had me go into installation, went to sat 91, transponder 17 and then did a check switch and it all came back. He also told me I could remove the card on a receiver and it would work on my other recievers if the channels weren't back on.......

Same problem here. Check switch didn't do anything. (I didn't think it would)
Call center blames it on the broadcaster. Sure, that sounds about right. :(

This is a good thing right? Tell me Bell is going back to the old format because like said before, HBO Canada has nothing on of interest. Was much better watching the movies that never had a prayer making it to the big screen.:p

NO! Bell is not going back to anything. HBO Canada has replaced MMore and MC4. This thread is about technical issues occuring on the HBO Canada channels on Bell TV. All further posts debating the merits of how good this rebranded channel is compared to what it replaced will be deleted as off topic posts.
