Hayden getting replaced.....

jdw,

I get your point, but let's not forget than Gibernau tested on the GP8 last year at Mugello and he was very fast. Almost as fast as Stoner! Apparently neither Melandri nor Hayden can tame the beast, but I don't believe Stoner is the only one who can. From what I've read, it appears that the Ducati traction control is the root of the problem. The Ducati TC is the most sophisticated of all the systems out there, but it requires the rider to adopt a total no-rear-wheel-spin style. For some, (like Hayden, for example, who used to race dirt bikes and has a riding style that favors wheel spin), this is difficult. Stoner, on the other hand, has taken to it like a fish to water.

In any case, let's see what Bayliss can do. One thing is certain, he can't do any worse than Hayden! And while I agree with you that, (at least at this point), Ducati probably doesn't intent do replace Hayden with Bayliss, that could, (hopefully!), change quickly. Especially if Hayden continues to stink up the motogp circuits with last row, back-of-the-pack performances.

Melandri sucked ALL last year and they didnt replace him till the end of the season. I think Hayden will still be allowed to adjust and hopefully produce.

I hope they do replace him with bayliss, I couldn't believe hayden got the gig in the first place. Just because his style was wild and out of control sliding the 990s whoopedy doo!!! Hayden is good but never great, he was consistent when it counted but never racked up alot of wins. Ducatis crappy other riders are costing the team laptimes because none of them can contribute input in development. I hope hayden comes good because this will be his last factory ride.

Gentlemen - read the fine print!!

You are all missing the point: Bayliss is simply an advisor on development for the GP09.....there's no serious intent on him replacing the (so far) lacklustre Hayden.

IN TESTING!!! Gibernau is sucking hind tit along with all the other Ducati riders in Moto GP this season. Kalio is doing better that Hayden, but he's still in the back of the pack. Stoner, I think, is the exception, he's just really good on that bike.

Nicky should have got along with the Begin's! Now with Bridgestone's from the beginning of the season, the hobbit is near the top. Nicky would be at the top with the Honda and Bridgestones. The falling out with Bibo (puig) and Frodo (pedrosa) could have lost him his future in MotoGP.

agree with u jdw..

mr bayliss is 'doing some work' for ducati..

he also has some commitments here in aus with cameo's in the V8 Supercar's this year, which he is strongly rumoured to be racing in, in 2010 season...
mr b is going four wheels!! cant wait to see it!!

besides....mr bayliss has moved his family here to australia..
dont see any reason why mr b. would be taking nicky's ride...unless something really really bad happens...

spotted eric bana in the V8 Supercar Bathurst 12 hour race just recently..woohooo!!!

something bad has already and is happening. One of the most prestigious rides in the Paddock is placing last amongst the factory teams and almost all of the satellite teams. Plus Bayliss will be a case of the test rider being much faster than the present factory rider Hayden. Plus Hayden is always injured lately, so if Hayden is not 100%...Bayliss will ride. Ducati will probably even ask Hayden to take a race off to heal up 100% and throw Bayliss in to help Stoner at the front.

cant see it happening
as you say..half the corse team is placed last.. as it was last year..with melandri..who wasnt dragged off his ride and replaced by anyone..casey was corse main points maker..and yet marco remained in situ
come to think of it marco was in deep doo-doo with ducati when he was busted test riding the kawa whilst he was still on contract with corse..
things changed then and only then...marco's contract was honored till that point, winning or not winning..

test rides are continuous....development is continuous...data is shared across the board with all ducati teams, whether you guys believe it or not...so the satellite teams benefit also....and manufacturers points benefit via the performance of all teams..

mr bayliss is very experienced in all things ducati..loved by the factory, teams and techs..and very qualified to supply input relative to TC and bike set-up, assuming that the on the fly TC controls on left handle bar , and the throttle full open overide on TC are conceptually similar on both wsbk R and the GP9....his input would be advantageous to nicky, who has had less experience with ducati's power plant, and traction control..advantageous, in no way an embarrassment...

I heard him say he would not be racing..but would be 'doing some work' for ducati..

injuries/time off for recovery etc, is par for the course with racing and contracts have been written..
eg. lorenzo last year with his broken ankles..pedrobot at the beginning of this season

cant begin to imagine how much of a furore, throwing last years and current reigning superbike champion into the mix at this early stage of points scoring in motogp would cause with other teams, manufacturers and riders.....

when mr bayliss cameo'd in motogp a few years ago, it was at the end of season and the competition points where already established...

just doesnt make sense ...and opens up a massive can of worms...imo
