Hawaii could be days away from becoming the 15th state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage.
The state's House of Representatives passed a marriage equality act late yesterday and it is expected to pass the state Senate.
The legislation includes amendments to protect clergy and religious institutions that choose not to perform marriage rites to same sex couples.
If approved, the law will take effect next month.
