Having trouble finding a copy of a French film

I can't speak French too well so it would have to be subtitled.

The film is Violette Noziere made in the early 80s and is directed by Chabrol and stars Isabelle Huppert. I saw it ages ago and haven't been able to find a copy, which is surprising considering the combination of Chabrol and Huppert.

Any suggestions, please? I've tried Amazon and the usual ports of call.

Firstly, you could always try looking in *ahem* non-reputable areas for such material.

Secondly, look around some small indie movie stores that sell second-hand VHS and DVD - they often have some good material that you can't get elsewhere. In this case, however, 'Violette Noziere' doesn't seem to have been formally released on any format... :(

Next, ask your nearest university if you could use their film/video library. They stock some wonderfully rare material at these places.

Yes, it is! Fantastic. Will VHS from the Canada work here in the UK? If so, I love you!

It should work if your video player is fairly modern. If not, have a look in the yellow pages, there'll probably be a local firm who will convert it from VHS to DVD for you.
