I would like to get stories from anyone who has had a one level fusion I am having a 360 fusion with instruments on my L/5 S/1 and my pain the week before the surgery is awful my legs are burning so bad and there is pain in my high part of my back in the center which is unbearable went to the er and they gave me medicine and I figure it would be ok once the medicine wore off it was back to he pain with nausea and just feel sick my surgery is 6 days away should I wait it out or call my doctor?

I had the same surgery 9 months ago, and I am going in for another 3 days after you, this time a 2 level fusion of L4-S1. My first fusion failed and it has to be re done completely.

Your symptoms sound normal, even though it stinks big time. I probably wouldn't call your doctor because there is really nothing they can do right now. Just try to get through the next 6 days. Of course go to the ER if you completely loose feeling in your legs or if you loose bowel/ bladder control. That would indicate an emergency.

I'm sorry you are going through this, but remind yourself that it will be over soon and you will be on the road to recovery.

Thanks again for your encouragment it is almost over just have pain in the groin area alot too and the nerve in my leg is jumping like crazy but the time is winding down it will be over soon thanks alot for your post.

I don't have an answer to your issue, but I just wanted to say good luck on your surgery! I wish you a very speedy recovery and I hope you know there are people here to support you 100%! Hope the pain subsides for you!

I don't check in often anymore. It's been 2 1/2 years since L4/L5 fusion. I didn't like how long it took to recover from it but it was worth it after years of nurabness and pain. It was worth all the rehab and one thing I say is most important is walking. Still do it when ever it's not raining. You'll do fine. Good luck!
