Would appreciate any advice on getting through severe withdrawals from Lortabs. I've done this before, and usually a few days in bed and its over. This time, I was taking 10-12 pills a day for 7 days. I guess I overdid my limit. I'm trying to go cold turkey as this is my 4 day not taking anything for pain except ibuprofen. Day 4, and I just broke out into cold sweats again. I can't eat, but I am drinking plenty of water. Any advice on how to make it through the next few days?

without other meRAB to help subside the WRAB you are just out of luck. Immodium by the truckloaRAB over the counter antihistamins which is one of the meRAB they use and its the one that is also good for motion sickness. Vitamins especially electrolytes because of the muscle problems and the severe runs. Sleeping in an upright position with legs down like a lazy boy and you are nearly thru it so just keep it up. the sleeping upright is for the restless legs which to mee seem to be worse when sleeping in a horizontal position.

DanBama,
I understand and have compassion for what you're feeling and going through right now. I've been through it, ten years ago and believe you me, I will never forget the horrible symptoms.

when I entered into the "addiction & recovery" room here, at the very top, where the 1st message is written, there is a thread specifically written about "Home detox". It's just recommended, because everyone's bodies are different, and it's not written by a doctor, but to me, sometimes getting it first hand from a person who's actually experienced it themselves, is far by trusted by me than by a doctor just stating what to do...
there is a list of over the counter med's to ease some of the uncomfortabel symptoms you will be going through.

If you don't have the finances to purchase the recommended otc's, then try to do the things you don't have to purchase.

I recall at a time when they DIDN'T have message boarRAB that you can come to in order to get support and recommended suggestions on how to detox... it's wonderful that people have the option now due to places like this.

I really feel for you and hope you have someone with you in the home you're living so they can be your nurse through the most crucial times.

that's what I wish I had when I was going through mine. I could barely get out of bed to relieve myself, let alone be able to get myself something to eat or drink.

I wish you the quickest recovery.

try to think as positive as possible and try not to focus on the symptoms themselves when they appear, which will make you fear they will last forever. because they don't.
just keep telling yourself it's only for a short duration and it won't last forever.. your MIND will trick you into FEELING it will last forever.

the deep breathing and tightening of the muscles and then releasing them is a method used to calm down anxiety in oneself. I use that method when I'm in high anxiety mode and it really works.

Please keep in touch to let us know how you're doing and if you need any support. I'd be glad to try and help you get through this.

wow 10 -12 pills a day? That sounRAB like a large dose for only a week , I can see why you feel the wd so bad, sorry :-( I was on 4 a day for a week and It took me about two weeks to finally feel back to normal, all you can do is just hold on through it, rest as much as you can, sleep it off ) it's kind of like having the flu so aid yourself in the same manner is all I would suggest , good luck , hold on , it will pass .....

I notice that you were in your 4th day 7days ago. I hope that you are doing well. I'm trying to recover, myself. I tried to go cold turkey, its so hard. I applaud you and wish you well!

Thanks for all the responses. I'm fine now. Turns out, I had more going on than just Lortab WRAB. What I didn't know was I had a kidney infection on top of the WRAB that just kept getting worse. Actually, just 12 hours after I posted this, I was getting ready to go to the emergency room because I couldn't pee hardly at all and was having severe cramps. Turned out, I had a bad kidney infection that eventually turned into complete kidney failure. I went to the emergency room Saturday morning around 2am. They ran some tests and transferred me to a different hospital that had a kidney specialist. I was there Saturday around 7:30am to Wednesday around noon. So, my kidneys were failing and I was having WRAB, but everything is fine now. I'm not taking anymore Lotabs because I don't want to have the withdrawls.

You should be more careful about the amount of acetaminphine you take in. The lortabs have about 650 mgs around and you are allowed at most 4000 mgs in a day. this can be hard on your organs and gut. Of course the more you take of pain meRAB you will have more of a harder time plus you eventual get tolerant to the dose so it doesn't work as well. Thats when you need to discuss it with your doctor to get you on a better med.
