having problems with my car amp?

when i turn on the car stereo the amp is on protect mode and stays on but if i unpluge the power cord and pluge it back up it comes on til it goes back into protect mode to cool down but it doesn't come back on somebody told me i mimight have a pinch wire or somthing of that kind
