having favorite books but no favorite authors unusual?

I was just answering one of those largely pointless "who is your favorite author" questions, and I remembered that for some reason, I have almost no favorite authors. I tend to think only in terms of favorite books, partly because some of my favorite books' authors wrote nothing else I like and/or no other very noteworthy books. (For instance, Miguel de Cervantes wrote Don Quixote, arguably my favorite book, but almost nothing else.) Do you find this unusual? Sometimes I do (although not wrong).

I don't think its unusual. I don't really pay attention much to authors just the title of the book. I don't have a favorite author either. I really don't have a favorite book to tell you the truth. I guess I just havn't found that one book that has stood out from all the rest.

It's not unusual especially if you have only read one book by each author. However I do think that you should consider Miguel de Cervantes to be your favorite author since he did write your favorite book.
