My friend and I are having a debate over which name is more feminine. I think Samantha is more feminine. She disagrees because she says it gets shortened to Sam or Sammie. My friend thinks Julianne is more feminine. Although I think it is a pretty name, it reminds me too much of the boys name Julian.

Which name do you think is more feminine, assuming that Samantha stays Samantha and does not get shortened?

And why?

Thanks

Samantha...

Julianne sounds a lot like Julian... and I think Julian is a masculine name.

I see that Samantha has the "sam" in it (which is a masculine name to me-- nickname for Samuel), and it has "man" in it, so I can see why she thinks it might be masculine.

I like Julia or Julie over Samantha though. I do like Samantha though.

Samantha. It is longer and has a fuller sound to it. Julianne, like you said, has a strong connection to the boy's name, Julian.

I think Julianne is more feminine - even when it is shortened to Julian it still sounds more feminine than Samantha being shortened to Sam. Julianne is also a combination of two female names - Julie and Anne. Samantha standing alone still sounds like Samuel which is very masculine, and although Julian is a mans name it still isn't as masculine as Samuel.

I think they're both nice names, but I must agree with your friend. =)

Samantha!

Why: Because it cant be use for a boy. Yes, Sammie or sam can be for a boy but your daughter (or if u just wondering) but her name is Samantha not Sam or Sammie, And Tell people that if they call her sam or sammie!

Julianne reminds me of julian too.
(But i do like Julie or Julia)

julianne is more feminine to me because it has the name Julie and Anne in it but samantha has sam in it. but both names are pretty!

Julianne sounds more feminine. Samantha sounds like a tomboy. That's just my opinion.
