Hello.

If you need to know the specific VSM file for a carrier and a specific Blackberry please PM me or ask here. I might be able to help.

Special thanks to sdtv13 for providing the files though.

Vodafone - Blackberry Bold - VSM-19801-003

That is one of them for the Bold, If you want a specific Vendor ID I need to know the carrier and country. If your only worried about the splash screen then the above file is fine.

AT&T never released the 8830 on its network so a VSM was never made for the resolution of your phone. Essentially you'll either need to unbrand it and have a Blackberry splash screen, or make your own.

Hi guy's...,

What is this VSM for???
I have a BB 7290 AT&T Vendor ID 101 i want to unlock, but I always get ABORTED
No configuration found for this device.

Has this VSM something to do???

Thanks.

I thought I needed to use a VSM file to debrand based on other threads.

I don't care about the splash screen. Its unlocked but still has the Verizon vendor ID.

How do I debrand to get rid of Verizon (change it to ATT) without a VSM file?

The VSM file is not really anything to do with unlocking the phone. It's purely for people that want to change the start up screen logo and change the Vendor ID for the phone. I had an unlocked Vodafone Bold 9000. When I turned on the phone the Vodafone brand would come up. My phone is now Orange branded and linked to the Orange UK vendor ID.

You could flash it with an AT&T VSM for another phone resolution, it means the splash screen AT&T logo would look a little shrunk or large, but your Vendor ID would change. Your phone has a 320x240 resolution.

Choose one of these

AT&T Wireless - 101
VSM-10747-002 (240x320)
VSM-13764-002 (240x320)
VSM-18868-002 (480x320)

There is really helpful threads in this forum with the Full VSM files to download and instructions how to do it.

Thanks Blackbuck!

The 8830 now has the Vendor ID changed using 1 of the VSM files. I also reloaded the os.

Now I have to figure out why the GSM is not working - I thought the GSM would kick in after inserting the SIM but the device cannot find it when scanning.

Sorry to hear your having problems. I would suggest you nuke all data off your BB, reload the VSM, Reload your OS. Then failing that, contact your service provider and see if they cant send a text message pre-loaded with settings for your blackberry. I've flashed my BB about 15 times, and I would say about 4 times I kept getting the SOS sign for no signal. Still unsure why. Maybe try another of the VSM's this time? At&T is a GSM provider as far as im aware, though they never have had the 8830 released on there network, perhaps the phone is seen as unsupported?

It's the wrong resolution so I wouldn't suggest it. I'll post one to use when I'm home, think another post on this forum tells you which vsm to use.
