have you seen DaVinci Code yet?

I saw it this afternoon, and really liked it. I had very low expectations because the book was so good I assumed the movie wouldn't be able to capture that, but the movie did a good job of capturing the essence of the book and making it exciting to watch.
 
a boycott is effectively a ban for those who follow the boycott. the vatican doesn't control movie distribution, that's up to the jews. but they can control what their own adherents watch and by boycotting the film they are banning it.

Yea, boycotting is a means of free speach, but since it's not a liberal talking point, it will not be labeled as such, so it can be looked down on.
 
I think I didn't like it BECAUSE I read the book...

the movie didn't do it justice with the way things were changed. I will have to say that the book wasn't written that well, but the movie was a disgrace!
 
It wasn't HORRIBLE, but it wasn't good either. The book was pretty decent. I think the subject is somewhat interesting, but lacked proper execution.

how can a boycott encourage free speech? By it's very nature it stifles the right of the people to watch what they want.
 
Boycotting is a form of protest of peaceful protest. Peaceful protest, is outlined as free speach. Boycotting something seldom works, but it does make people stop and think about both sides of the issue, which is really what the Pope is trying to go for here IMO. It is quite obvious that this movie and book are going to be popular, so they will not be taken off the shelves.

Here's a question for you, why can't baby Jesus be shown in a parade anymore? Isn't that free speach? I seem to find the liberals will scream about censorship to no end when it is in their benefit, but pass is off as something else, when it is not beneficial to them.

banning it being referenced in this thread would make it illegal to show. In India this was going on but not in america. saying the american catholic chruch is tring to ban the movie is stupid
 
Saw it tonight and compared to the book, it's horrible. It's dumbed down to hell and beyond!

Instead of buying the movie ticket, buy the book
 
I love how critics are saying it's too wordy, and I know people who complained about there not being enough action, but it's like what did you fucking expect? Following the book as close as possible, and not wanting to lose any plot developments or twists means you need 95% of the dialogue from the book. fucking retards.
