Have you received a new Smart Card from Bell?

Has anyone in the Maitimes received a new card yet? I haven't nor has my receiver's software been upgraded.

PS: Wish everyone would include their location in their postings? So much of what is discussed is geography-dependent one way or another.

How long after the "NAG" messages (popups) were your new cards received? I've had the "NAG" messages for a couple of days but haven't received the cards.

I activated my 4 IRDs today at bell.ca/smartcard.

My one 6100 has a card for the first time.

Each IRD took between 5 to 10 minutes to aquire programming.

Very easy process.

Doh! If i had read the instructions, I would have seen that i don't need a card for the 9242.

I tried going to the bell.ca/smartcard page and it shows me all 3 receivers with the existing card numbers, but the option to activate the new cards is greyed out for all 3 receivers... :(

I am getting a number of emails from people who think Digital Home is ExpressVu asking what to do with their new smartcard so I am assuming lots are going out these days.

(for those wondering, I get emails daily from people who think Digital Home is Rogers, Bell, Shaw etc!)

Yea I hear you
I'm not knocking you, but many of the CSR's are unaware of things like this
But, I would guess that the majority of cardless receivers, with cards, are from the USA, not from Canada
All electronics fail, eventually, but if the amount of cardless recievers that have cards in them were due to failure, then Bell would need a new STB manufacturer

I received my cards for my 6100 and 2 9200's, but not for a recently activated 3100 (activated last Monday).

When I called Bell over the weekend they told me the 3100 was "not targeted" and therefore didn't need a new card. Of course this made absolutely no sense at all, CSR agreed, however she had no option on her screen to send a card for a non-targeted receiver.

I think I'll try calling back later this week to see if the 3100 has become "targeted".

Mine arrived today. Bell got it right- no card for the 9242, and no card for the 3100 I told them to take off my account in April.

hi there! can u please tell me which channel(s) you saw smartcard warning messages from? is it the PPV channels or sports channels? merci. ^_^

Weird.

I bought a new 6141 last week to replace my rental unit. I hooked it up, phoned in and every was up and running a couple of hours later.

It didn't come with a Smart Card so I didn't put one in, the Customer Service person some units don't need a card.

Is this true? Am I going to lose my signal some time in the near future because there is no card in the unit?

I bought these units new in April of 08. Before this I had no subscription to bell.
The reason he was calling was to verify my address he said for sending the new cards. And he insisted I needed them for the swapout.

I think he or his system is just a little confused.
The number he called me from was 1-888-759-3474

That goes without saying, but if this card swap works:rolleyes: it won't matter if TV pirates get theirs hand on them will it.

There not obsolete, there still in use, they are the card currently being swaped out.

Wonderful.

Ever since they did the last card swap my 3100 periodically freezes for 5-20 seconds at a time. What is this one going to do to it? Turn it into a brick?

received my cards last week (6000, 2700), haven't had time to bother with the switch over yet, i also have a 3100 that i had programming on but it has been in my 5th wheel trailer for the last couple of yrs., haven't even used it, they didn't send a card for it though, will they send me one for free if i ask or will they charge me?

To jb1: You may have to send back those extra cards or be charged $100 each. I had a 2700 in storage which I received a card for but wasn't going to bother with till I got this warning:
"Please activate the remaining SmartCards to avoid any loss of programming. Should you choose not to replace and activate the remaining SmartCards, we will contact you to request that you return your unused new SmartCard(s). Failure to do so will result in a $100 charge (per SmartCard) being applied to your account."
I just fired up the 2700, updated then put it back in storage.
