Have you received a new Smart Card from Bell?

got my cards July 25th or so, took my time replacing them. had 3 nag phone calls and finally replaced them Aug 21.

Did the card switch online. had one 5100 and one 9200 up and running right away.

Second 9200 had to remove smart cart and reinsert to have it take the resent activation signal.

No card yet but am now receiving a warning message on my screen that I need to upgrade or my service will expire. Seems to happen several times a day now - any else getting these messages?

I cannot see that happening. Bell has let us slide for far too long to start enforcing that policy now. I'd be curious to know where you heard that from.

I logged into my account on Bell's site, and it took me a while, but I found the option to resynch programming....Still nothing on my 4700. 5100 and 3100 are still working fine, no new cards for any of them yet...

Did the upgrade this morning on all four of my receivers (9200, 6100, 4100, 3100). Activated online, even showed me a picture of each receiver, nice touch! All receivers up and running in around 5 minutes. No problems. Pretty smooth!

Never received a card, or phone call, and now my receiver is saying my card is incompatible.... sigh... oh hold with Bell. So much for TV tonight.

Same here
Called in, and was told to wait another 7 days...
As long as my channels don't start dropping off before the cards come, I don't care...

Got my card yesterday for my 9200. It took about 15 minutes after activation before the reciever was up and running again.

The last time they did a smartcard card swap the card was mailed in a seperate invoice that the bill... I had 2 receivers and each smartcard came in a seperate invoice

Express Vu sent cards to all theirs clients that had receivers with a smartcard If, for any reason they haven't received it, until July of this year Bell Express Vu was sending a new one free of charge. If client had received it and lost it or put it in the garbage the clien had to pay a 69$ to get another one

I live in Quebec, I have a 5900, a 3100 and a 9200...
I didn't receive crds for any of my receivers yet

Audio dropouts are a common issue and are not related to the new smartcard. Please post off topic issues in the appropraite threads.

This thread is for the poll and related topics.
Thanks

I just received the new card for my 9200 this morning, and just a few minutes later the phone rang and it was an automated message from Bell telling me that my new card was shipped 7 days ago and must be installed so I don't lose my programming. How did they know?

Maybe swapping the card will fix the jump to live bug.

To i hate tv:
Yes, I became aware of that lately (the dishnetwork swap), but keep in mind that there are also real chip failures, such as when the S/C # indicated is S0000000000, which causes red guides or other errors (like the receiver stalling at the 015 screen).

Edival,

I don't think the problem you are having is due to the need for a new card swap. Sounds like something, based on your wording, went bad on the box.

Well, I don't really think they are even close to being ready for a "cutoff". I have seven systems of which two are 9242s, three are 6100s one is a 4100 and one is a 3100.

Have not received ANY cards for the 6100, 4100 or 3100. Called ExVu last week and they said, "...don't worry, they will be out to you before we do a change over."

A ten year ExVu customer... who has been there and done that with the card swaps. They will change over after all subs at the start of the swap have been mailed cards.

5 minutes of "work" twice in 10 years..... hardly worth compensation IMO.

Would you really prefer to have schedule a time for a tech to come into your home? Most users on here are not happy with the fact you are required to have a professional install of the whole system when renting, can't imagine how they'd feel about having to give up a half or full day at work to have someone pull out a smartcard and insert another.

It could be that if the OP had a previous receiver before upgrading to the 9242 or 6141 but it was not taken off their account, that receiver would have been shipped a card.

Rinconn, PM me if you need assistance,

They can only send cards to ppl who own 3100 and/or 6100 receivers since those are the only models that have the required "E6" software.
The dealer bulletin says the swap begins April 15th so I think this is kind of a test phase now. After all models of receivers get the new software then a mass mail out of cards can begin.

Too bad we can't make multiple selections in the poll LOL. With 7 registered receivers I have one with a Rom 240 (if I recall correctly) and the rest are Rom 102 cards from the last card swap. The existing Rom 240 card is in a 9200 refurb rental so I guess those are likely exempt as well, but you never know :)

Looks like all models will receiver firmware updates. "To ensure the SmartCard is activated successfully, your receiver software version has to be E600 or above."

Received my card this morning for my 3100N. Took only a few minutes to activate as I went online to do it. Programming appeared instantly.
