to the one point? Like, for example, I was arguing with a creationist one day and he said to me, “If evolution is true, how come I haven’t evolved an extra pair of hands?” I responded by explaining to him that evolution works by giving every new life random mutations; some random mutations are subtle, some are obvious and some turn out to be a benefit and enable them to survive and more importantly, procreate successfully whilst some random mutations turn out to be a negative affect. Maybe there have been people born with an extra pair of hands but this random mutation didn’t turn out to enable them to procreate, probably because other people thought they were freaks and didn’t want to go to bed with them. But if they had have been able to procreate, then there probably would be lots of children running around with an extra pair of hands.
This calm, polite and rational answer seemed to make sense to him because he quickly changed the topic and began ranting about how, “It can’t all just be an accident! The universe is too precise to just be an accident! You’re crazy to believe it’s all just an accident! Not even Einstein believed it was an accident!” Have you noticed behavior like this too?
