Have you ever taken "debate" or "critical thinking" classes?

I Took a debate class and a current event class corequisitly.
It was a lot of fun. it was a pass/fail class so there was no real pressure./ basically, every week we had a different assigned topic and a partner (or or 3 depending on what type of debate we were having). And we presented our side. You had to write a 5 page paper in order to participate on why you thought your side was right and the other was wrong . For both sides. Negetive and affirmative. My favorite Part was the cross examination. it's fun to call people out on their BS.

The current event class I don't remember as much of,all I remember is that we would talk about current events. That was my blow-off class. I slept the whole time in that class and managed to get away with a B+.

The thing I absolutely loved about Debate is that you got a chance to argue both sides of the case. In most cases there really wasn't a right or wrong answer it was just about having facts about your topic and being able to present and then persuade others in believing that what you are debating is best. It's like having to debate the pros and cons of any decision or situation. Critical thinking class is a lot like debate except you get more time to think things over whereas in debate if someone hits you with a question you have to have a fast response. Debate was more about world issues whereas Critical Thinking was more about your personal issues and your ways/habits. Both classes gave me better insight on people and myself and the way I think about things. Just like a debate a lot of people still have is what is the right way to raise a family? There is no right or wrong answer because of several reasons. One is that ones culture determines how they will raise their child, what environment they are currently in, their religious beliefs, how they were raised, and financial state all of these depends on the way a person raises their family. So is there a right or wrong way? Think about it. That's one of the things learned in both classes that I still think about today.
I had both of these classes in college, so they may be different in high school.
