Have you ever picked up a hitch hiker or hitched hiked yourself?

I have never done either and have no intentions of doing so but I wondered how other people viewed this potentially dangerous activity.

Have hitch hiked a few times. Usually get picked up by truckers, they enjoy the company on long journeys.

I used to hitch hike frequently in my youth but would not do so nowadays. I have been in cars recently when we have offered lifts to people though. Just remembered I have been offered lifts twice in the last few years and accepted them. I think it depends on what part of the country you are in,in rural areas with little or no bus service giving and accepting lifts seems to be common
