...they are around guns? For example: I am Five Four, 115 pounds. I have a few .38 Specials with four inch barrels that I want to swap out for two inch barrels.

I want it for a simple reason: I am too small and skinny to stick a full size .38 in my waistband.
So I get this patronizing comment:
"You need to take gun handling courses I shot shotguns when I was 12 years old. Also if a person was in the military it wouldnt be a problem to handle these guns"
Well number one I WAS in the military. The U.S. Army in fact (MOS 57E), and I served overseas in Kosovo.
Secondly, I have no problem handling big guns if I have to:

But why do some people have to put on the big manly act with guns all the time?
I go to a gunshop, all the morbidly obese sales clerks are waddling around talking about how they would kill a bad guy in a gun fight.
I go to the shooting range, you run into the all the experts who intone that nothing less than a .458 Winchester Magnum is adequate for home defense.
I run into other people who constantly tell me how they can kill a deer at half a mile. Yet they have trouble putting the quarter in the soda machine for their can of sugar water.
Where does all this posturing come from?
