Have you ever had a bike almost stolen from you?

The idea for this question came from earlier today when I was shooting video a little ways out of town. I parked my bike by the railroad tracks and left it leaning there. Had a sudden urge to go back for some reason. Looked when I was a bit of a distance and saw it was there and no one around. Looked down at my camera as I dismantled it and all that and saw a truck pull up and a guy run out of it and then take off. Well I looked back out of curiosity and thought "They better not of' well here comes the black pickup with an empty trailer and a few tires in the back of it and the bike. I managed to get them to stop by sticking my thumb out and then my palm while walking to the road.

Now the thing that let me know it was really a thief was that as soon as the truck pulled up the Passenger said "Sorry man, didn't know" I decided to play the nice stupid idiot and just asked them if I can get it back and they said sure. They sat there while I reached in the back and pulled it out. Told them "sorry for the confusion" wished them a good day and took off.

At first I was like these guys were just scrappers or something but when I got home and told my mom I put it all together and it hit me like a block. Apparently the world isn't such a nice place ha ha.

So, what is your story?
That is so true, back after I had my own mountain bike stolen I had to run over a few blocks to some kids house and found it between the house and the shed. I would like to think him though because the tire was patched up and the bike was movable again. Free repair. :3

After that I used a lock but I didn't have one at the time and was being stupid by leaning it against the road on telephone poles. For the rest of the evening I spent it hiding it in a secure yet viewable and reachable location. From now on I'm going on foot.
