Have you ever clapped in the cinema at the end of a film?

I can remember when people clapped after James Bond 'spun' his car 360 degrees in 'DiamonRAB Are Forever' in a showing at Odeon Leicester Square!

Not personally. There was a cheer went up when I saw Prince of Thieves in Glasgow, at Sean Connery's appearance, and when I saw Despicable Me in New York last month, that got a round of applause.

Yes, well done Mr Projectionist, you pressed the right buttons! ;)

I remember the audience clapping at the end of Annie Get Your Gun when I saw it at the Empire Liecester Sq back in 1950, (origional release). All the songs were terrifically popular in those long gone days.

Most people clapped at the end when I saw This Is It, myself included.

People who think it's 'ridiculous' need to loosen up. What's wrong with a group of people sharing appreciation for a work together?

I saw Schindler's List at the Odeon in Leicester Square and there was complete silence from the audience during the film and nobody moved until the last of the credits had been shown--and then the entire audience got to their feet and gave the film a standing ovation that must have lasted ten minutes. It was incredible to see and very moving

I also saw ROTK at the Odeon and I think I led the applause at the end and I'm not ashamed to admit it!! :p :D

My finnish friend started clapping at the end of Kick Ass. He was the only one in the whole cinema who done clapped and was amazed that no one else did. I had to explain that it's not a thing usually done here while trying not to laugh at all the funny looks he was getting :D

The only time i have experienced clapping in the cinema is at the end of Mama Mia. Everyone was clapping, whooping, singing and going wild! Was really fun to be part of and witness to be honest, well desereved and eveyone left smiling :)

yes, with one hand :D

I thought it was only americans that clapped at the cinema?

I applaud my dvd player when I watch movies at home :D

Only time ive seen/ heard clapping was when they first showed the Revenge of The Sith trailer (the one with Alec Guiness in it) when me & Mrs Sheepdog saw Bridget Jones 2 & suddenly it got very busy & then emptied when the trailer finished & when the Lucasfilm /Once Upon A Time.........logo/ line appeared at the beginning of R O T S & when the film finished at a screening i went to.

:)

No. It's not a thing I "get"...just seems a bit pointless.

When I saw Inception a few people clapped half-heartedly but quickly stopped when the majority didn't join in! :D

People in my cinema clapped during and at the end of Toy Story 3, i.e when Buzz finished his seductive dance to Jessie and once the credits rolled.

I don't think its ridiculous, especially in this instance, because it was genuinely a fantastic film.

However, clapping at the end of a Twilight film is very very wrong. :D

I think it's daft unless someone involved in the production is present, which they pretty much always aren't. I don't think it's ever happened when I've seen a film at the cinema either. Haha :D

When I saw the Star Trek 7 movie in Leicester Square (London) audience clapped at the beginning as each actor's name was displayed in the opening credits...

And we all went nuts at the end too. Happy days :D

When I saw the last Star Wars movie (revenge of the sith) everyone went wild at the beginning and the end, jumping out of their seats and cheering, it was great :D

Everyone sung along and went wild to Mamma Mia and there was some applause for the last Spiderman film.

The only time i can recall any clapping in a cinema was during BATMAN FOREVER.
The scene at the beginning where BATMAN escapes from the safe which has just been pulled out of the building by TWO FACE in a helicopter. BATMAN shoots a wire at the safe, cuts the cable connected to the helicopter, and the safe falls perfectly back through the blown hole and rests back into its original position.
The audience clapped like mad, probably because it was so unbelievable.
I just looked at my girlfriend at the time, and we both shrunk into our seats laughing.

Admittedly, i did the old ROCKY thing during ROCKY IV, same as all the other kiRAB in the audience when i watched it as youth but, ive never witnessed anybody clapping at the end of a film, though i have heard people did at the end of INCEPTION from a friend
