Before I get to the point, I wanted to make a couple of things clear:
In no way am I attacking anybody. I respect everyone's personal beliefs/choices because I would like mine to be respected.
You may also ask why I come to this section to ask such a question. Well, that's simple. I come to the people and ask instead of waiting until they come to me.
I personally believe that Earth has a disgustingly large amount of people. Can our planet handle it and possibly more? I think it can to a certain extent, sure.
But six billion people and growing fast (people are born faster than people die) makes my heart drop and my stomach turn. And I wonder so often, "Do people see what is going on?".
While many humans can thrive (though there are unfortunately too many who are not) on our planet, society and the environment suffers.
On the societal level, the increasing population creates strain for others.
On the environmental level the increase population creates strain on the "natural" world. Humans take up space, humans damage Earth's natural system of things (though to a large extent Earth's system of things will continue with humans here or not), humans damage the atmosphere, humans causes stress to the population/living of other species, etc.
It is my personal choice to not have children by normal means, but to adopt them instead. Not only can I be a parent if I ever so choose to be, but I am helping a child that needed a mother instead of creating one that didn't need me until I produced it with my partner.
Adopting can be difficult. Of course it would be so much easier just to get with my partner and create one. But for the sake of society and the environment and the fact that I would like to see Earth's population lower DRASTICALLY, I am willing to go through the difficulties that I may come across through the process of adopting children.
It is my belief that, at the very least, if one wants children by natural means to not go over the number of two; one to replace each parent. This way, the population will not rise at the rate it is now
So I ask parents and those wanting children:
When the issues that the increase of population are brought up and set on the table, does this become a concern for you? Do you realize that having children is only beneficial for you and NOT for society and the environment?
Whatever your reason, opinion, etc, please answer in detail.
