Have Samsung Rogue and want to switch phones

I originally had a Droid but then realized it cost too much money to pay per month. Now that I have enough I want to get a Droid, but I have a few questions.

I currently pay ten dollars a month for the internet service. If I buy a Droid, how do I notify Verizon to change my data plan?

Would I have to pay the same amount for the Droid as I would under a contract? Or would I have to pay more?
