Have just seen KillBill 2

Recently I have treated myself to sky+, and have started watching some movies. Never a really big movie fan, but am starting to like some of them. But they have to be very good, or my mind starts to go walk abouts.

One very good film I watched was killbill 2. After watching it, I get the feeling it would have been better to watch
killbill 1 first.

Anyone got a crystal ball and can tell me where / when killbill 1 is next going to be shown? :P

Also what are some good movies to look out for on sky? any genre.

Our local corner shop has a selection of rental DVRAB for 40p per night, no membership as he knows where we live.

Kill Bill must be about 4 years old now so it might even be in the bargain bin.

If you've got Sky+ you're probably entitled to subscribe to Sky By Broadband, where you can download movies shown on Sky to your PC for free.

They might have Kill Bill Vol.1 on there.

Kill Bill 1 is three years ago so it may show up on terrestrial tv soon. I would imagine the only channel who would show it would be Channel 4 about 10pm on a Sunday night. May be on soon. Not sure if it has finished on Sky Movies or not.

Defintley better to watch the first one first.

They're a great pair of films, Kill Bill 1 is loaRAB of fun, but I reckon part 2 is a much better film, a little slower and more talking, but really well written.

X-Men 2 (May, 2003) was just on ITV, and DareDevil (February, 2003) was on BBC1 earlier this year, so Kill Bill Vol. 1 should be on probably in January I think.

I agree, Vol. 1 is all about the gore, violence and action, while Vol. 2 is more drama and interaction. I prefer Vol. 1 myself, but both are great halves of a super film.

In my view it was a big mistake to split it in half like that. Vol 1 had too much fighting and Vol 2 had too much talking so they were both dragged down. Had they been put together, and about an hour of footage cut out, and a single set of credits put at the end, the result would have been a long movie, but not excessively so (compared to, eg, TLotR), and it would have been brilliant.

I reckon Tarantino had become uneditable, which is a shame.

I preferred part 1, as it is themed around martial arts style genre, which I love. Not a big fan of the western genre which is what part 2 resembles, but still it's a great movie too.

Plus part 1 has Lucy Liu & Chiaki Kuriyama. O-ren Ishii is my favorite character in the movie, as well as Gogo. I missed their presence in part 2. It definately has a lot more action.

If you liked part 2, you will likely love part 1. Imo the series is worth buying.

Anyone know what's happened to "The Whole Bloody Affair" (the film as originally intended, edited together into a whole). Last I heard was in March when Tarantino said it would be one of the first films released by the Weinstein company, and that it would definitely receive an NC-17 certificate because of some of the stuff they've edited back in, and because the scene with the crazy 88s will be in color as it was in it's Japanese release.

I have never understood why people happily sit down and watch a sequel to something they haven't seen. People even go to the cinema and do it!

You definitely should have watched the first one first - they are very linked.

Of course, in the case of Kill Bill, it's not told chronologically anyway, but Vol.1 does explain what happened to The Bride to start it all off.

Even moreso, though, Kill Bill was originally one movie, that got too long in pre/production, and Tarantino split it into two parts.

I loved the end. The title is Kill Bill.

She killed Bill. Brilliant.

Plus it was long before Snakes on a Plane tried to be clever with a film title.

Well, no. Part of my problem with that film, as a standalone, is that it doesn't explain. It gives the impression the rest of the gang turned on her because she wanted to leave, but that wasn't really a plausible story, especially as we see several others have left the gang without getting the same treatment. It was clear to me from Vol 1 that the Bride had done something to provoke Bill, to earn his ill treatment of her, and Vol 1 does not explain what that was.
