As long as your prestone says "all makes all colours" or something to that extent (which prestone does in every case i have ever seen) then your fine to mix it. I would recomend getting your coolant system flushed and filled with Only prestone as Dex-Cool sucks. Either way, add the coolant as stated on the bottle. It should be a mix of antifreeze and water between 50/50 and 50/70.

I only added abt 1/2 gallon so far but i just read on a fourm that you are only supposed to use "DEX COOL" but i have also read that DEX COOL supposedly burns the plastic or something like that.
Also what is the best way to add coolant, I really dont know how- its so confusing..
Any info can help if it is my intak manifolds I dont have the money to fix it and i hope i can just keep adding coolant until i do get the money
Thankyou G6er, the bottle i have is old and the directions are all peeled and spotty (belonged to the folks that used to live here)
yes it is green/neon yellow?

Can you tell me if FLUSH means ADD???
i keep seeing people say flush

sorry i dont know the terms :(

The new Dex Cool is the same basic formula as all the rest. Read the label for all of them. Dex Cool has a red coloring added to differentiate it from the rest but the others list Good for all makes and models, mixes with any color. Dex Cool is usually more costly at my local Autozone.

You should be okay.

Last October 27 was the ending time that you could put a claim in for Dex Cool related repairs up to $800.00. The old propylene glycol did corrode the gaskets. Especially Head gaskets.

Add coolant the first thing before driving your car. When it is cool. Open the radiator cap add to the top. Then add to the max cool level in the recovery tank. Opening a hot radiator cap will/may get your burned severely. Opening the recovery tank when coolant is bubbling over will/may also get you burned severely. Never overfill. The coolant tank should have some room to allow overflow to enter and thus not go to ground where animals are attracted to it. It is sweet to the taste for them and causes kidney failure. Your pets and the neighbor's pets are at risk. It is not good for the environment either. Rain water wash off will pollute our drinking water.

As stated above it should be a mix of 50/50. You can add your own distilled water to the concentrate to make it so. Or buy premixed.

As as stated above:
It should be a mix of antifreeze and water between 50/50 and 50/70.

You can not have a 50/70 mix. It only goes to 100%.
Try 30/70 for a correct answer..
And that would be for the northern most US and Canada where colder temperatures are encountered.

I am assuming that you added GREEN coolant to the DEX COOL Orange. As stated in another answer, the coolant may be compatible with DEX COOL. If that is the case then you are ok. If it is not compatible it will not destroy anything but I would recommend you get your coolant changed. It is simple to do and most any person with slight mechanical ability can change coolant for very inexpensive. Less than 20 dollars for coolant. I'm told, Dex is very undesirable. I changed my DEX COOL system out to good ol Green Prestone tried and true. I had to flush it several times. The Dex Cool is apparently very bad on most components in a cooling system. Gaskets, plastic, etc. Dex Cool in my S-10 destroyed my radiator, heater core, and intake manifold gaskets. VERY BAD STUFF.

Orange and green don't mix , the two together will congeal I no you said you don't have money but the only way to fix that is to have it flushed at a lube center they will put in an additive to clean the system and flush the whole thing with via a machine made for that . But if the coolants are the same color you do not have any thing to worry about .
