was whining, why? Dog is 2yrs old. Has been at our home for about 4 days now. Sleeps in our bed with us and has been fine. For the first time, woke me up several times last night whining. Did not need out or not hungry/thirsty. What could it have been? Should I just see how the rest of the week goes before I start breaking my head? Is it at all possible that she is just now getting home sick? or would that have been displayed from night one? Thank you.

Maybe your snoring and its worried about you
Usualy having a dog on the same level (ie. the bed ) can cause behavior issues. This is one reason that those little soft pillow beds and crates are so popular. Dogs feel equal or even above you when they are in the kings bed Just a thought , she may be whinning because she is thinking she needs to be in control of something, and has not figured it out and its driving her crazy. Working dogs will whine when they feel the "need" to help out and can't , a small dog has the same need altho not as strong . This will be lessoned if you put her on the floor or crate and start walking her assertivley not begging her to come with you - she has to come with you .

If the dog has been left with others for short periods of time, it may have been ok because it expected its previous owners to return. This could be a cause of the delayed reaction.

Try having you dog sleep somewhere else and see what happens. But, I think your dog is dreaming about something that makes her uneasy.
