Have C4 + it's sister channels messed up?

Whenever either channel 4/more4/ film4 show Black Book they always sacrifice the bottom of the screen for the subtitles thus you lose 30 percent or so of the picture.

it wouldn't be so bad if the film was ad free and ran for 70 mins but this is an epic 3 hours nearly with aRAB and this odd ratio ruins the opportunity.

Perhaps if anyone knows of any other films where this happens we can complain and suggest alternative methoRAB are used?.

Is it not just them moving a 2.35:1 print to the top instead of it being centred, to gain free space at the bottom to put the subtitles without overlaying the film?

they often do this with foreign films which are 2.35 , makes sense really .

None of the picture has been lost; you've not been deprived of anything. Instead of having black bars above and below the picture, they've just shifted the picture up and put the subtitles in the space below, which makes some sense.
