Hauling my 1098 to Cali from TX

Hey everybody, new to the forum. Anyway I'm hauling my bike from Dallas, TX to Monterey, CA. First serious road trip with the wife and kid. I will be hauling my bike aboard my Chevy Avy. and my concern is security at hotels over night. I am afraid to leave my baby all alone, on my truck, at night and then wake up to both my truck and bike gone. I just don't want any surprises you know, am I just being too paranoid?

I trailer my bikes when moving in one of those small uhual enclosed trailers. You can pad lock the door and no one can see what you are carrying. I wouldn't trust a duc out in the open on a long haul like that.

Well, I am going to be doing the same thing next month. I plan on parking in reverse near the building in front. With the truck in backwards, it would be harder to lift the bike out of the bed and they won't be able to back it up. Also, the alarm on the truck has a motion sensor, so if the truck is disturbed, it will go off.

Both good ideas

+1 on putting it in the room too. Sounds crazy, but it would give you piece of mind at least. That bike is worth way too much to risk it.

It'll be fine ... done that ride on just a bike and parked in some shady places at night. Park your truck near the lobby and throw a chain/padlock through the rear wheel of your bike and a tiedown if you're worried about someone rolling it out of your truck into another bed.

Just stay at a decent hotel, not some motel dive...

Just remember, in most cases, people scope out a motorcycle for a bit before they steal it. A hotel doesn't offer a lot of time to scope something out. I have traveled a lot and you rarely hear of car thefts/break ins at hotels because of the traffic, someone is up all the time, etc. Just stay out of shady areas and you will be fine.
