hubby won't budge. help!? i hd a love marriage. Now I'm disabled due to accident. Have a 5 year old son. I can work and stay away. But I love my son and hubby too much. Hubby thinks i'm not adjusting as I have a bad temper.now I mellowed, but past always creeps up on me. I am miserable.

Ignore her - don't make you husband take sides - let him come to that by his own ideas. He will see this one day. He does not like to be in between the too most important women in his life. You must be careful to keep him on your side and you can only do this by ignoring your mother in law and play her at her own game. Be very nice to her no matter what she says to you. If she insults you - just smile and go away from her.

Just because you are disabled you must not give up - you are the same woman you were before. You do feel miserable and that is natural because bad things have happened to you. Perhaps you need to talk to someone outside of the family who will help you - your husband may be right in saying you have not adjusted - adjusted is not the best word to use - coming to terms with a disability is the best way of describing what you feel. You may be depressed and that is why you feel so miserable. Do not stay away from the two people you love. Get a little job which allows you to be with your child at school breaks and get a life of your own outside of your family life. You need friends to chat to like any other woman...Maybe go back into education of take up a hobby - are you able to swim if so join a group. You need to get your confidence back for the sake of yourself and your family - especially your little boy who will not like seeing Mummy sad.

You said ' the past creeps up on me- - this could be a medical condition called 'flash backs' or 'post traumatic stress disorder 'and can be really hard to deal with unless you get help. If something bad happens to us or we see something bad it can keep coming back to our mind over and over again causing us to be sad and depressed. Even can have dreams about these things. So you do need to get some help in dealing with this - it is a normal reaction to the accident you had five years ago - time does not always heal and you need help to get over the accident. People who are doctors will know this and will be able to help you. Good luck
