When I was riding into work this morning, I was going about 50-55. The check engine light and fuel light came on, the speedo dropped to 0 for a split second. Then everything went back to normal. I did not lose power or anything. I have never noticed it happen before. I have a bit over 6000 miles on the bike, bought it new in 2005. Any ideas??

Nope not a one. I've never heard of anything like that...other than a lose terminal cable...or something else thats connection related.

your bike took a power-nap.

if it never happens again, i'd chalk it up to the ECU getting glitched and/or deciding to reset the instrument cluster for whatever reason.

My FI light came on once when I was coasting at 65 with the clutch in. My bike also stalled on me once when I made a bend while down-shifting too fast... It's only three weeks old...

I have just 10,000 km on my M50, which is about 6000 miles.
Never happened to me, but I use mine a bit more than others, - have only owned it for 7 months.

There was a cabling recall, where the wiring would chafe on the tree.

Check that first, as it sounds like electrical!.

Stop looking down at the instrument panel is all I can say! You'll only get hurt ;) You get a good indication of speed by the rate that the countyside passes by, a good indication of fuel by the memory of your last fill and a good indication of engine malfunction by the noise underneath you!:D:bluethum:

It's hard to imagine all the cabling to intruments going open at the same time so maybe there was some power failure to whatever processor is underneath tank/seat?

What I am saying is that I definitely do not know what has happened. I realise that is not very helpful, so I offer the first paragraph again!

You know...funny that you mention that.

I've been looking at that little tiny circle which is supposed to light up if there is a problem. LOL....no way am I ever going to notice that. OK, maybe if it's night or very early in the morning I might see it...but in the sun, no way.

I did have the recall done, they rerouted the cable. I usually don't look at it but the lights flashing on caught my eye. it has not happened since and have put a couple hundred more miles on it, trying to see if it happens again.
