rear end of car steps out under extreme cornering without any understeer/warnings?

i'm referring mainly to 1994-2000 model fiestas

it happened to me twice,i was far beyond the limit of normal driving when it happened,when i was just past the apex of the corner,the steering momentarily went light and the rear end stepped out,it was controllable.

has this happened to you?
 
I like driving little cars beyond their limit too.. but that is the reason behind your problem.

Get a 98 neon 5 speed.. fun as hell and cheap to replace when you crash into a light pole while drifting.
