Has there ever been a black place kicker in the NFL? I can't think of one...?

I remember Roby but I thought he was just a punter. I could be wrong of course. That's usually the case....

Packer fan 4 life: Wade Richey, the placekicker for the 49ers in that playoff game you mentioned, isn't a black guy. He's a white boy from deep south.

I don't know of any others,but Reggie Roby was a black place kicker and punter who was drafted by the Dolphins in 1983.He continued playing for them until 1993 when he then went for 6 years playing for the Redskins,Bucs,and Houston Oilers.His last season was in 1998 with the 49ers.

He's actually made it to the pro bowl 3 times.

Funny you asked. I just watched the Niner's play the Packers in the playoff game in 1999 when TO made the catch and cried after it. The kicker was black and I thought, "hmmm, don't recall seeing a black kicker before."
