Has the book "A child called it" affected you in any way?

I've read this book so many times and each time it saddens me to know that there are people out there who really are treated this way.

How has this book affected you once reading it?

Yes. The first time I read it I actually had to put the book down and cry a few times. David Pelzer has a whole series of books that come after this one, that tells the story of his entire life. He is just amazing.

I love that book. It makes me sick to think a human could do something that inhumane to another person. The things she did to her own son make me so angry!

When I see people misstreating their children in public, I can only imagine what they do to them at home.

if you liked that book, make sure you read The lost Boy..it's the second one, and tells about his life once he got into foster care.

I cried :( I read it gosh atleast 8 years ago but I remeber every scene in the book. People sicken me. How could you ever do that to your son?! Let alone any living thing. So sad

is it about abused children? never read it,
but that commercial that shows abused dogs at dog shelters always makes me sad and i go hug my doggy :(.

It really affected me as a teen when I first read it, and as a fiction writer and an artist it's definitely influenced some of my work...

The one thing that it makes me think about today is that stories like that are horrible, but it doesn't make other kinds of abuse less horrific either. My friend's father never did anything like that to her, but it didn't make his psychological abuse any less damaging.
