Happily --- we are ALL pretty ridiculous sometimes and ALL of us open to parody. (Thankfully.)
But I do take your point. Black Culture can seem to me like a total "reaction AGAINST" --- against everybody and everything, which can get old after awhile. Or, it can seem too silly (i.e., the average American Black TV sitcom). Or too this or too that. Which is a shame! My experience in Africa tells me that, culturally speaking, African cultures are generally sophisticated, charming, strong, happy, funny, inventive, supportive of others, and gentle and caring -- just like cultures everywhere else I've been. Why isn't THAT diversity beamed out on our media, for heaven's sake? I feel so accepted and "taken in" when I'm in Africa. I do wish some of THAT would jump the Pond and settle in over here -- with both the White AND Black Cultures.
Never mind. I ramble.
Final answer: No. Black Culture is not SO ridiculous as to be immune to parody, IMHO! Just still aiming to find out what it is... still in "invent" mode, I believe. Thoughts?
