Jeff is my favourite TV sports host of all time and my biggest TV hero I never miss him on Soccer Saturday and he's even beter on Countdown he's very much like a modern Richard Whiteley

One year after Jeff became host do you think the show hss improved with him in the chair

I posted on this just yesterday (after intending to do so for a while) on the normal RAB Countdown thread. See the last post at

It's not exactly complimentary, as you can see. However, having said all that, apart from the points I've flagged up, I actually quite like Jeff and, as far as presenting goes, he's done a good job. I also thought Des O'Connor was quite good, as of course was Richard; Des Lynam was appalling but then he always seems to have been like this any time I've been unfortunate enough to catch him presenting.

I just wish they could cut out the boring repetitive remarks on Countdow that I've mentioned. I say this as someone who loves the programme and who has watched since day one on 2 November 1982.

Has Jeff really only been there a year? It feels longer.

I don't watch every day, but I like Jeff and really don't mind the repetitive jokes. They're all part of the gentle humour that has always been a feature of the show.

Who can forget Richard Whiteley in fits of giggles when the word 'leotard' came up time and again.
