Has 'House of the Long Shadows' ever been on UK TV?

It was the last film to unite four horror actor greats: Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and John Carradine.

Made in 1983, the only way I saw it was a bad VHS tape recorded off Swedish TV. Can't remember it ever being on UK TV.

It's not a bad film. One downside, it has that dreadful Julie Peasgood in it.:D:eek:

Thanks for the infor', Joseph. :)

Strange that a film that starred four of the finest horror actors the world has produced, is shuned.

I admit, it's not the greatest plot in the world, but to see all those actors together, is enough for me. :D

Another movie never screened (I think) is Kenny Everett's venture into horror called, Bloodbath at the House of Death - or something.

Think that was made in the early 1980s.

Long Shadows like a few other movies is in limbo usually because there is a dispute over who owns the rights because the company that originally funded it may no longer exist and the company that owned the rights may have been sold and the films sold to different companies or other similar things.

I think it was also a similar problem with Bloodbath but that seemed to get sorted and was released on dvd last year.

I did hear later that it had been deleted because of a rights dispute but I'm not sure on that one and it may well still be available.

There were 2 of my US faves that also sat in legal limbo for decades both directed by Fred Dekker.

The Monster Squad finally got sorted last year and at last Night of the Creeps will be appearing in October.

There are problems with rights ownership on many tv series and films which is why often something may appear in the US and not appear in the UK or vice versa

I can remember House Of Long Shadows being broadcast at least once by ITV on a Friday night at 10.40pm, in the late 80s when I was 11 or 12 which would have made it around 1987/88. This was in the TVS region.

I remember because I had seen the video at our local video shop just after it came out in 83/84 and it looked good but they also had Friday 13th Part 3 which looked better (owing to having a picture of Jason holding a machete dripping with blood on the cover), and my mum was only willing to hire one for me, so I chose Friday 13th and the week after House of Long Shadows was gone, so when I saw it in TV Times a few years later I made a point of watching it :)
