The fire damaged areas are growing back very well. There are WAY less bison (no thanks in part to the cattlemen associations/US Government killing them as they leave the park to find food). Elk populations are very low compared to the 80's. We used to see a lot of moose in the park in the 80's but since the fire it's very rare to see a moose in the park (if you know where to go out of the park you can see them) It's more crowded later into the season than it used to be. The best situation is that you will have a very good chance of seeing wolves and bears if you know where to look. Fishing has gotten worse due to water conditions and poor spawning during the last couple of decades as well as whirling disease affecting the fisheries. I still spend 2 to 3 months a year up there enjoying the outdoors!
