...and more importantly is it any good? Im going to see it on Friday so please don't post any spoilers but...do US remakes of Japanese horror work? I thought both Ringu and The Ring had their individual merits. Whaddayouthink?

Actually just back form seeing it now. It is a good movie and worth seeing (if you do not sit next to people who just won't shut up!). It is similar to The Ring and if you liked it you should like this. Let me know what you think of it if / when you see it. :)

I saw it last weekend and it was pretty good. It has the same 'shades of grey' coloring that The Ring had. I prefer a picture with more vivid color (making it appear more 3 dimensional, IMHO) but I suppose the cinematography was done that way to help portray the mood of the film. It was good for quite a few scares. These days, way too many movies show their hand in the trailers. ie The forgotten.

I never saw the original version so I can't compare.
Happy Halloween!!

Yes and no. After I saw the Ring I couldn't sleep properly for a week. Partly due to stupid pranks by boyfriend. Slept fine last night though. It is scary but I think one really pathetic part in the movie made it not quite so scary.

No, he found out about the blank video tape bit before we saw it and sneakily left such a tape on the table in the hallway of my house. Then when we were going in the door after seeing it (me scared witless at this time) as I opened the front door he said that he had to stay the night at his own place rather than with me cause he had to leave early for work the next morning etc. Then I spotted the tape on the table that hadn't been there before we left the house and was really afraid. Then after lots of "you can't leave me alone tonight" pleading in vain went upstairs to go to bed. Washed face, cleaned teeth, PJs on the usual into bed light off and screamed. Stupid w***er had left white bath robe hanging from bedroom door. He had to do lots of grovelling after that. Also he reallg regretted it cause I was really cranky due to lack of proper sleep for several nights.

Just seen The Grudge. What a disappointment! It had all the right ingredients but somehow fell flat on its face - not scary at all, and I'm not sure why. Probably didn't help that most of the audience were laughing and chatting all the way through. Great to see SM Gellar on the big screen but the movie had no atmosphere at all.

Hi Everyone,

Watched the Grudge saurday night, I was scared sh*tless, thought it was scarier than the Ring in some bits but others not.

Love Sarah, she's brilliant but I think i prefer her when she kicks ass rather than being a bit wimpy!!

I thought this was a simply ABYSMAL film.

I wasn't scared once, and believe me, I scare easily. It was a cliche ridden, repetitive and utterly predictable.

Now, I love the ring, but this film borrow far to much from it.... the colour palate and the creepy person imagery is all old now. It belongs to one saga alone.

...and I loved their attamept at a 21 Grams style narrative that tries to diguise the lack of plot.

Utterly awful, utterly boring.... I'd never wanted to leave a theatre as much as I did tonight.

I saw it last night and thought it was ok. My boyfriend thought it was rubbish and kept laughing! It is very similar to the ring but not as as scary - although there are a few moments in it which make you jump. Apparently a lot of the psychological terror has been left out of this version compared to the Japanese one so would be interesting to compare. Worth seeing though.

Ok it had jumpy bits but other than that it wasn't scarey it had no story to it...most of it was unexplained and confusing and what was the ending about? My friend thought it was the scariest film they've seen....ok then.
