Has anyone seen SAW?

disappointed with open water. All the stuff I read about it implied that the sharks played a bigger part.It was similar to the blair witch project in the way that although it was a short film it really dragged and you end up looking at your watch

Open Water was rubbish and didnt live up to the hype. I have been looking forward to Saw since I first heard about it. All the reviews for it have been really good and the trailer looks great. I am hoping that this is one film that lives up to the hype!

Havbn't heard much about this film so decided to take a look on the imdb site and the empire site. Looks like i will be making a trip to the cinema when it is released on friday :D

I know Empire gave Saw a 4 out of 5 rating in the review and I generally trust empires reviews. One of the quotes on the trailer compared it to Seven and I will be happy if its as good as that classic!

I love films like this. I watched the trailer the other night and it looked great - really unnerving and freaky. I so can't wait to see it.
I want it now! :)

The interactive website is really cool, though I did stop half way through since it seemed to contain spoilers. Anyway - thanks for the feedback. My ticket is booked for tomorrow night. Will report back after the movie! Cant wait!

I think Saw will be a really good film. The trailer is outstanding and hopefully the film will be the same. hopefully it wont turn out to be like the Excorist the Beginning or The Village

I went to see it today and its good. Its a bit weird at the start becuase you don't really know whats going on, but in the end it all fits into place.

I know I'm crashing in here but I really need to know what the alternate ending is for 28 days later. I'm sorry but I've just watched the normal version and I have a deep need to know now!!! Once again sorry but .....HELP!!.....and Thank You!!

Did you not find the movie a little annoying? I am talking more about the over acting and the strange ending. I can't say more than that as it will ruin it.

pF

just got back from watching this and its bloody ace guys, its a must for the cinema.

the ending was great and will take you by suprise, the over acting like phat says was alittle annoying but the storyline makes up 100% for it.

9/10

I went to see 'Saw' on Friday and it's absolutely fantastic, I highly recommend it. I also agree that the ending is very good, go to see this film - you won't be disappointed.

Holy f***ing Mary Mother of God. Maybe the previous posters who have seen it are less easily scared than me, or maybe their hanRAB were still shaking to type very much, but for me this is the most visceral horror experience since Event Horizon and the most genuinely un-nerving film since The Blair Witch Project. If you're a fan of Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, the last couple of Halloween films etc, then this isn't for you. There's no cute teens with their tops off just waiting to die, no in jokes and no big stars that you know will live to the end.
What you get are plenty of jump out your seat moments, twisted, genuinely freaky imagery and a puppet master bad guy - he holRAB all the strings, controls his victims movements, and watches every move.
This has mainly been likened to the excellent Seven. This is accurate in that Saw is an urban serial killer thriller in which the bad guy is teaching his victims a lesson of some sort. It also has the dingy, dimly lit feel that Seven had. Overall though I'd say it's closer to Cube. People wake up in a strange place, with no idea how they got there, why they're there, who the others are and what their purpose is. They then have to set about working these things out from the clues they're able to find in order to make some sense of it and escape.
As previous posters have said, some of the acting leaves a lot to be desired (fortunately whenever you find yourself thinking that, something happens that will soon make you forget the quality of the acting) and, as is often the case with these sort of tricksy films, when you start to think about it you notice the plot holes (which I discuss in another thread) but these don't detract from the enjoyment of the film.
This is an excellent attempt to make a non-camp, non-remake, satisfyingly adult horror film, with no other pretentions or intentions other than to scare the hell out of you that un-fortunately not many studios are making these days; 5/5.
