If so what do you think about it?
For those who don't know, The basics of it are that its a 5.0L V8 that burns (Two) fuels Unleaded Gasoline and E-85. They combined some how inside the engine. Early tests of this engine show it getting high fuel economy numbers (even in heavier vehicles like the F-series trucks). For 2011 Fords new 5.0L V8 is making its truck debut in the F-150 and in the F-150 it makes 360hp and 380lb/ft of torque. However the same engine but with the Double fuel set up is said that it can easily make power north of 500+ (reliably) And torque over 700lb/ft. The test vehicles have 2 tanks. One for Gasoline and another for E-85. Its been said that the E-85 would only need to refiled about every 20,000miles. And even the tested F-150's are going as far as 1,000 miles on a smaller tank of gas alone.
What do you guys think? To me this engine sounds like godsend. Since E-85 can't be used as replacement fuel on its own (Due to the fact its would take up to many of our crops to be made for all vehicles in america) So why not combined it with Gasoline? Its also been said the combined Gas and E-85 runs as high as 150 octane, vs 87 octane for regular unleaded alone.
The only real downfall I see is how much would these engines cost to produce? And how much would they add to the price of a vehicle?
