Has anyone heard of a Ford car from the mid 60's named Griffin?

I grew up on the West side of Detroit, and there was a person on my block that worked for Ford Motor Company. He had a small baby blue Cobra looking car that had a 289ci hypo engine, 4speed stick, and it was fast. He said it was a prototype car, and said it was called Griffin. I remember it had a Griffin lion on it's emblem. Was there such a car?

Never heard of a Griffin car being made,It would have been lost at the corp[orate board because of the limited market of the Cobra. Chrysler tried to make a copy in '67 with the Alpine Tiger, Maxwell Smart had 1, until Chrysler found their 273 didn't fit right and they didn't want to sell the Ford motor.
the Griffin was1 one the icons in the older Mercury's logo, a lions body with a dragons head.
