Ah no. You have the right to opt out of any test. Just because they are required by law to offer it to you doesn't mean that you don't have the final say. You are her parent. To do it every year by vein is ridiculous and overkill. If they really need to check they can do it by a finger prick.
For the record though. I did have my child tested for lead. She was three at the time. I went to a baby fair and they had free lead screenings for children under five and nursing/pregnant women. They poked our fingers for it. My lead levels were fine (I was about 32 weeks pregnant at the time) my daughter's screening was high so they recommended that we go to the pediatrician and get a vein test (arm draw) because they are more accurate than the finger prick.
It was not pleasant for her. Her dad held her and I sat in the waiting room and could hear her crying. If she hadn't had a high result for her finger check we wouldn't have put her through that. Her lead levels were fine. She's five now and we have never rechecked her.

arm test. This terrifies me.? The Nurse said it is required every year by state law, Fla . I have never heard of this b4. She is only 22 pounds. Why does it have to be out of arm.
Your baby will be fine. It's not going to hurt her. It's something a lot of states mandate at least once or twice in the child's young years. It'll only hurt her for a second, and it honestly seems to be bothering you already more than it will her.

My son had this done at his 1 yr appointment also. It was SO sad!!! I had to hold him down while they did it and he was just looking at me like "why are you letting them do this"! So heartbreaking. My youngest will be 1 next month and I am dreading that doctors appointment...
