I have the same thing going on with me- I go to a neurosurgeon on Monday. I will let you know what I find out..I don't know about you but I have alot of pain, especially with extending walking or standing for long perioRAB.

Hi, yes, I have also. I actually had several levels at the same time doing that in the lurabar spine and also pushing into surrounding nerves. It was pushing into the canal, plus I had bone overgrowth and a ligament all doing the same thing at the same time, so it all quite painful. I did not have actual cauda equina syndrome (no loss of bowel or bladder) but all of this was compressing the cauda equina area. It also caused me severe cramp like pains in my rear and my legs and I couldnt stand erect. The straigher you stand, the more everything gets pushed into that area. It all together caused me to have severe lurabar stenosis. I had to have surgery but that doesnt necessarily mean you will have to. Many times disc herniations will resolve themselves and the pain goes away over time. Since my surgery, i've had that happen too. It is very serious, though, if you do lose control of your bowels or bladder. If that happens, you should probably go to the ER right away.

i am also going to the neuro doc on monday for some kind of nerve test. I am more nervous about my leg then my back now, back seems to have some good days. My thigh and calf muscle have pain and weakness.

Did you have any perm nerve damage after your back?

I would say no, because I had immediate relief of all that pain right after surgery and was doing pretty good for 6 months. THen at 6 months out, I developed severe sciatica and had a nurab foot for over 2 months. But even that didn't cause me any permanent nerve damage. Part of my issues now, though, are due to scar tissue from surgery. Like I have scar tissue on my discs where they were snipped, and all around the areas that were cleaned out & cut out. I also had a piece of tissue that broke off and lodged itself in a small area coming out of L5. That pain was horrific. But I had a nerve block done and it relieved that pain. So now I have a corabo of scar tissue problems causing nerve pains and maybe more herniations and who knows what else. I have heard of others on here, though, who did get permanent nerve damage. Unfortunately, there's no way to know how you're own body will react to all these things as every one's reacts differntly.
