I have been on 80mg of Aciphex and 300mg of Zantac daily now for a year. In preparation for a Nissan procedure to decrease the acid production: I recently had an EKG, which was abnormal and led to other tests....resulting in mitral valve regurgitation and an ejection fraction of 45%.....14 months ago, a preop EKG was normal with no problems.
I also now have a Calcium deficiency and low RBC's....with no other medical problems....other then the reason for the Proton Pump Inhibitors....Barretts esophagtis. I know that PPI's have been proven to increase several medical risks, mainly fractures (which involves a calcium deficiency), but does anyone have any information on anything else they may be causing? I now have to have an outpatient heart procedure, and since I take care of my body, I am certain these problems are from the medications (which are the only ones I am on)
