Has anyone gone a camping trip by themselves?

I'm a pretty solitary person but I've never been on a vacation alone. I"m thinking about going on a camping trip to Montana or Colorado alone for a few days. It seems like it could be a spiritual, reflective experience.

Has anyone else done this and would you recommend it?
I also want to carry a large rifle for protection. I believe these are illegal at national parks but any clarification on that matter would be helpful.
 
I never go camping alone! I always bring friends or family with me. Like 2-4 people come with me. Or you can just bring two people with you like your friends for protection.
