It think it's a shame that every year MTV honors the death of Tupac Shakur but barely, if ever, mentions the death of John Lennon (at least, as far as I can tell; I've certainly never seen it on there). I'm not trying to disrespect Tupac or say we shouldn't remeraber him, but John Lennon was a veritable genius who revolutionized modern music in innumerable ways and is a cultural icon. To even compare him to Tupac is disgraceful.

^ some would say pac revolutionized modern rap and is also a cultural icon. the comparison is not disgraceful, it just doesnt make sense because pac and lennon influenced two different genres.

How did he revolutionize it? He did what NWA did, and frankly, I don't think he had more of an impact than Notorious BIG. People say he was the "intellectual rapper" but I don't think he was more elequent or enlightened than say; common, kanye west, saul williams.

I don't know, I don't think its disgraceful, but just because alot of attention starved well-off white kiRAB wear your t-shirts and pretend their thugs gets you "revolutionary" status.

In my opinion John Lennon was by far the greatest musician ever.. While i sadly wasnt around when he was, i've been brought up on Lennon thanks to my parents havin great taste, and i'm fricken glad they did! He revolutionised the world with his music & will always be an icon for peace, love and rebellion.. I too listened to Lennon all day on the 8th, as i'm sure so many did.. anyways, love u lennon, forever.. live on
