Has anybody published a book using blurb.com?

Could you describe your experience? How did you advertise and sell your books afterwords? Did you make good money?
 
I have used blurb to print a book that I gave to my husband as a gift, but I can tell you this about self publishing. It's not worth your time of you want to be taken seripusly as a writer, you will likely lose money, and marketing and selling a self-published book is really hard. You have to do everythig yourself and since self-published books are not screened for quality, a lot of them are really bad and who wants to buy a really bad book? Not saying yours is bad, but thats often what people assume when they look at a self-published book. Again, if you want to be taken seriously as a writer, self-publishing is not the way to go. Traditional publishing is harder, but you will get paid for your book, you won't have to market the book yourself, and people will be more likely to buy your book. It's up to you, but know the dangers and costs of self-publishing before you jump into it. You may regret it later.
